Tennessee Gesneriad Society

You are cordially invited to Tennessee Gesneriad Society’s Annual Propagation Workshop
Sunday April 15, 2:00 p.m. in Cheekwood’s Botanic Hall.
Learn how to grow from cuttings, seeds, rhizomes, and go home with dozens of new plants - all free! And for free admission to this special event, tell the guard at the gate that you are attending the Gesneriad Society meeting.

Here's the process: Join us in the Workroom in Botanic Hall. Choose from our pile of propagation chambers (mostly polystyrene containers from salad bars) or bring your own clear container with a lid. Fill your container with a couple of inches of potting mix that we provide. Now the fun begins! TGS members hold up a some plant material and tell you how to propagate it: how to make the cut, what leaves to remove, or whether to just plant the leaf itself. Each style of propagation will be introduced, then the plant material will be passed around the table for you to do the actual work. We will also show you how to divide rhizomes which do not need the protection of a propagation chamber, and seeds which do. It's chaotic fun, and everybody gets new plants. So come out to Cheekwood the third Sunday in April, roll up your sleeves, and lets get propagating!
