Kohleria ‘Bud’s Little Pig’

Kohleria ‘Bud’s Little Pig’, 2017, IR171365, hybridized by Brandon W. Erikson, NE.  (K. ‘Peridots Kitlope’ x K. ‘Peridots Kitlope’). Cross made 12.05.2012, planted 02.18.2013, and first flowered 08.23.2013.  Fertile, reproducible only vegetatively. Erect medium growth habit, easily controlled and compact. Leaves black/green, hairy, 3-15cm long, 5cm wide, with 1-2 cm petiole, elliptic  with cuneate base, serrate margin and acute tip. Calyx split, dark green, 0.5cm long. Pedicel 3.25cm with 3 flowers per axil. Corolla tubular, subventricose, 3cm long x 1.7cm wide, light pink/ dark pink spots. Bright blooms with white face against dark foliage. Flowers produce extra petals (not a calyx double) at a rate of about 60%. Leaves, flowers and sepals are all hairy.
