Primulina ‘Cat’s Goldfish’

Primulina ‘Cat’s Goldfish’, 2014, IR141256, Lai Bi-dan and Pan Bo, Guangxi, China. (P. sp. x P. flavimaculata). Cross made Nov.1, 2012, planted Dec. 15, 2012 and first flowered Jul.25, 2014. Reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette with stem length of 6-7 cm. Leaves green with gray or white short fine hair. In autumn the leaf turns salmon.  6-10 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, 2-3cm petiole, hairy, linear with crenate margin, cuneate base and acute tip. Calyx split, dark red, 1.4-1.5 cm. Pedicel 2.4-3 cm. No of flowers per axil – 2-6. Corolla salverform, 4.6-5 cm long, 2.7-3 cm wide, orchid with dark violet line. Easy to grow, suitable to very good light but not direct sun, temperature range 0 to+35C. Most of the characteristics are intermediate between  parents, but the flowering period is from mid-July to November – longer than its parents.
