Primulina (Chirita) ‘Chastity’

Primulina ‘Chastity’. 2000, IR00728, John Boggan, DC. (P. flavimaculata x P. longgangensis). Cross made summer 1996, planted Nov. 1996 and first flowered June 1997. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Stemless rosette, leaves opposite. Leaf medium green, smooth with slightly crenate edges, 6 in. long x 2-3 in. wide with indistinct approximately 1 ½ in. petiole, linear to elliptic with acute tip and cuneate base. Calyx split. Peduncle to 3 in. long with 4-8 flowers per leaf axil. Corolla salverform, 1 in. long and 1 in. across limb, medium lavender purple. Leaves are usually opposite, variable in width but usually narrow, the plant is essentially everblooming. First published 1997, CrossWords 21 (2) 3-4.
