Smithiantha ‘Malu’s Show-off’, 2021, IR211557, registered by Margery Anderson-Clive, Portugal. (S. ‘Big Dots Rule’ x S. ‘Vivian’s Gift’). Cross made 06.2012 by A. Maxwell, seeds planted 11.20.2018, first flowering 06.19.2019. Fertile. Reproducible only vegetatively. Upright determinate habit, stem length 12-18 inch. Leaves olive green with darker veining, red stems and red reverse, 2.75-3.5 inch long, 1.5-2.5 inch wide,1.25-1.625 inch petiole, orbicular, with cordate base, acute tip, serrate margin, hairy. Calyx split, green 0.25 inch. Length of the pedicel 0.75 inch, 24 flowers per raceme. Corolla salverform, 1.5 inch long, 2.5-3 inch wide, cream and fuschia with sawtooth petal edges and wide veined yellow throat. Robust grower that occasionally puts a double raceme. Good blossom count.
