Sinningia ‘Rock Loves Maria’

Sinningia ‘Rock Loves Maria’, 2017, IR171359, hybridized by Jay Sespico, FL (S. ‘Scensational Pepperpot’ x S. ‘Thad’s Gas Planet’). Cross made 10.01.2014, planted 11.16.2014, and first flowered 03.21.2015.  Fertile, reproducible only vegetatively. S.speciosa type (basal rosette). Leaves green, 5.7 in. long, 4 in. wide, with 2 in. petiole, ovate with crenate margin and acute tip. Calyx split, green,1.1 in. long. Pedicel 2.8 in. long with 3 flowers per axil. Corolla peloric, upright with radial symmetry 1.6 in. long x 3.4 in. wide, dark red. Green leafed medium size Sinningia speciosa with an abundance of dark red peloric flowers.
