Streptocarpus ‘Pink Elephant’

Streptocarpus ‘Pink Elephant’, 2013, IR131217, Jeff Smith, IN. (S. ‘Pink Cloud’ x S. vandeleurii). Cross made April, 1998, planted Aug. 1998 and first flowered Feb. 1999. Reproducible only vegetatively. Starts as a unifoliate, becomes plurifoliate with age. Leaf medium green, up to 20 in. long x up to 8 in. wide, linear with crenate margin, acute tip and cuneate base. Calyx green, split, 0.5 in. long. Peduncle 8 to 12 in. tall with 8 to 20 flowers. Corolla salverform, 1.5 to 2 in. long, 1 to 1.5 in. wide, pale pink with dark rose in throat. Extremely large when mature, over 36 in. across with in excess of 60 flowers.  Not scented.
