xGloxinistema ‘First Frost’

xGloxinistema ‘First Frost’. 1992, IR92469, David Turley, VA. (Registered as xGloxistema). (Diastema racemiferum x Gloxiniopsis racemosa). Cross made summer, 1990, planted Sept. 1990 and first flowered Oct. 1991. Reproducible only vegetatively. Upright, pyramidal in shape, leaves decreasing in size to top. Single stemmed flowering from terminal and axil racemes. Leaf bullate, hairy, apple green, up to 11 cm long x 8 cm wide, ovate with serrate margin, acute tip and cordate base. 2.5 cm long wine red petiole, Calyx split, pale green, tipped red, 8 mm long. Flowers in opposite pairs on raceme, up to 18 pairs per stem. Corolla salverform, 2 cm long x 1.5 cm wide, white with purple lines and speckles in throat, pale yellow at base of throat.
